Dennis James Jakes

November 25, 1977 - May 8, 2021

For I consider that the suffering of this present time are not worth comparing with the Glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans 8:18 Dennis James Jakes affectionally known as D.J. was born on November 25, 1977 to Dennis James Anderson and Jeanette Jakes in Helena, Arkansas. Dennis attended Macondia M.B. Church in Oneida, Arkansas at Mt. Gilliam AME Church in Barton, Arkansas with his grandmothers Bettye Pearl and Doris Anderson an early age. Dennis "DJ" received his education in the Chicago Public School District. Dennis later moved to West Helena, Arkansas to be closer to his mom. He started attending Morning Star Baptist Church in Elaine, Arkansas under the leadership of Pastor Desi Sims. Dennis met and married his beautiful and loving wife Jamie Lee Jakes and to their union a precious baby boy was born Elijah Prince Jakes. Dennis "DJ" had a smile of gold and some big growing eyes with a feisty attitude to match it. Now we all knew DJ lived his life to the fullest. He would turn a party out and end one. Deep down inside he knew that the Lord was keeping him from day to day. Dennis passed away May 8, 2021 in Barton, Arkansas to be reunited with his grandparents Bettye Pearl Russ and Percy Jakes, Doris Lane Anderson and James "Trigger" Anderson. His mother Jeanette Jakes, Brother Jermaine Tatum, Auntie Brenda Anderson, Nephew Corey D. Anderson and Baby Lamon Wesley Ollins. Dennis leaves to cherish his memories: His amazing wife Jamie Lee Jakes of West Helena, AR; A daughter Zoey White, His sons: Elijah Prince Jakes, Xavier White, TreVaughn White, Jaylon Grant and Avery White all of West Helena, AR; His sisters: Stephanie Wright of Minneapolis, MN; Doris Anderson of West Helena, AR; His brother Anthony Jakes of Chicago, IL; His father: Dennis James Anderson of Chicago, IL; His stepfather Sam Sidney Jr., of West Helena, AR; His nieces: Jacquline Ollins of NLR, AR; Courvoisier Powell and Romesha Jones of Minneapolis, MN; Grandaunt: Leola Hall and Cleola Williams of Southland, AR; Dr. Wanda Armstrong and Ruby Liddell of Los Angeles, CA; Aunts: Carolyn (AL) Williams, Shirley Baker of West Helena, AR; Bettye (Ruffs) Pulphus, Jessie Mae Jakes, Emma Mitts all of Chicago, IL; Mary Jackson of Memphis, TN; Minnie Williams of NLR, AR; Luethel (Lemard) Seawood of Stockton, CA; Shiryl Johnson or Atlanta, GA; Uncles: Excell (Dorothy) Brown, Calvin (Karen) Anderson of Atlanta, GA; Ertis (Marilyn) Jakes, Michael (Marilyn) Anderson of West Helena, AR; A special cousin Brianna and a host of cousins, and friends who will miss DJ.
